Okay, so I didn’t actually leave for Ojai today. This makes the second time I’ve put off the trip (the first being last Friday). But I had a few things to do that just couldn’t get done yesterday.
So instead of driving the length of California today, I spent an insane amount of time and energy running all over creation to prepare for tomorrow’s departure. We attended the Thursday morning play group (which, even in all its chaotic glory, turned out to be the calm before the storm), ran down to Susanville and picked up a prescription, met Jason for lunch, took the girls in for a haircut appointment, got the van’s oil changed and fluids checked and tires filled, made the mother of all Walmart trips (for cheap diversions, and movies, and snacks, and socks, and books, and supplies to keep Jason alive while we’re gone), ran to Payless, picked up Jason from work (because we took THAT LONG), grabbed a fast food dinner, dropped off Jenn’s Walmart order, and came home.
And I’m almost done packing. Just a few odds and ends to remember. And Jason will clean out the van for me and pack it. And I will be ready. And I will LEAVE tomorrow. Lord willin’ and the creek don’t rise.
So pray for speed, or at least perceived speed. And serenity. And safety. Please.

Wow! I’m exhausted just reading about your day. Errands with kids in the car…yipee!!!
Yeah, I’m exhausted too. When you go on “vacation” as a mother, you need a vacation from all the packing and preparing, then you need a vacation from the vacation.
Praying for safety and serenity!
